Beware of the Virus. June 15, 2009

As we can see and hear on the daily news, the world is infected with a virus that is now a pandemic according to the World Health Organization (WHO). For the record, roughly 6000 cases and 60 plus deaths occurred in a span of 3 months already. It is indeed a very contagious and pernicious virus especially for the young ones. Influenza is a very common disease for every person in the world. I believe that everyone has experienced this type of illness all through out our childhood. It is true that the virus has been abruptly propagated through many countries. Why panic and cause some sort of unrest?

I have a theory. It may not be acceptable to many but I strongly believe that what I believe is true. I am not exactly a medical geek but I know a little. Let me start on giving some sci-fi films about super agents trying to stop the spread of man-made epidemic that would put the entire human race into eternal damnation. Remember Mission Impossible 2? Yeah, the Chimera virus (thanks HBO). I theorize that this pandemic has been triggered by a man-made virus that would later on become a cash cow for some multi-national companies such as Phizer and Novartris. Here’s the pattern, they make the virus (a h1n1), wait, wait, and wait, and poof, we have the antidote, and it comes with a price, a big big price. I may sound just the same as those who rate the best conspiracy theory about the virus or even the Apollo 11 conspiracy but let us think a little bit more critical. Existing vaccines to protect us from the common influenza may not be the right weapon for this because there are some components present in the a(h1n1) virus that are not in the common flu. So medical research institutes and manufacturers have to device an antidote that would fight this virus and that what’s making me think that they already have that at hand.

Another point, I think it is connected with the current global financial crisis. Everyone’s spending some bucks for these vaccines, cash flows to the multinational-companies’ hands as well as to the UN and countries that participate in this whole game and voila. This maybe vague but can be considered.

It seems that nothing is real now or in other words, we’re living on a strawberry fields. I sense that the UN-WHO are really putting up the alert level to the highest possible mark to be able to force the people to be frightened and get the vaccines. Maybe there’s a big figure behind this who started the everything. If what I believe is true, this is the largest and the widest scale of fraud in the history of mankind, maybe.

TKO or Scripted? May 3, 2009

The recently concluded Pacquiao-Hatton match showcased the true heart and the solid fist of the pacman. This lop-sided match has already engraved the pacman’s name in the Boxing Hall of Fame. Just moments after Hatton came tumbling down, one instance caught my eye and asked my self, “is this scripted?”. Why? I’ll show some clips.

The images are arranged chronologically from left to right, top to bottom. This moment was before Pacquiao went to his corner and pray. This entry may be of no significance to others but i just want to show what i have observed. First image, Pacquiao was carried by Buboy. 2nd image, Pacquiao was on the ring and notice the HBO guy to the right pointing downward as if commanding someone. 3rd image, Pacquiao looked at the fat guy with the HBO shirt (i have known that the black shirted-guy is from HBO when i reviewed the replays on the TV). 4th image, Pacman looked abruptly. 5th image, Pacquiao quickly walked towards the corner and kneeled. I will pose some questions: what could be the purpose of that sign pointing downwards that was seen by the Pacman and made himself abruptly in the corner? Was that a reminder that he must pray? Why would someone from HBO tell him what to do? Was the fight scripted?

I am a Pacman Fan but i can’t think of any possible explanation why would that happen. This post is open for criticisms and other opinions. You can watch the whole round 2 when uploaders of the youtube goes to work.

The Final Set? March 8, 2009

Last night at the MOA Concert grounds was one of the best experiences of my life that will be alive in my memory until i die. It was the Final Set of the Eraserheads that shaked the reclaimed land right beside the Manila Bay. I shared this moment with a special woman in my life, Miles, along with the thousands of eheads fans from as young as 10 years old to mid 40s to 50s. It was a night filled of joy and emotions as the ‘heads played their hearts out and mind you, everyone felt it. The crowd was sometimes silent because everyone was listening as if it was a dream hearing the 4 boys play their songs live again. Although we were watching in the big screen most of the time, it was worth it because just the feeling of being in that concert was phenomenal, it was stellar and dream-like.

The first song they played was Magasin, a very calssic song from their album Circus, after a cool alphabetical countdown from Z-E. Name that tune. Ely said before playing Maling Akala when Raim was preparing his beats. It was also memorable when Ely introduced Raims on vocals when they did the song Slomo and it was a Raimund-sandiwch-like performance. The entire first set was:

Then a long break. Everyone was waiting anxiously hoping that Ely would still be fine. When they came back, an acoustic set up was in the stage and Ely asked, “How do you like our new house?”. Ely was convincingly happy playing again. He interacts with the crowd everytime he likes as well as the other 3. Buddy was silent all through out while Raim and Marcus were crazy. 

The second set includes 5 acoustic and unplugged songs that areall my favorite. I’m even listening right now to Wishing Wells! Julie tearjerky was amazing, Ely inserted a line from the song Jump of Van halen while singing the chorus. Trip to Jerusalem was amazing as if i transcended from my elementary years, whoa. While Spolarium was played, the intro sounded like the Beatles’ Strawberry Fields Forever and it was very fantastic. The set list includes:

After Overdrive, Ely shouts goodbye but everyone is not going anywhere since it was bitin. I was not also leaving because i know there will be an encore. Through out the performance, Ely numerously told the crowd if they can still handle it and some of the peeps beside me answer back “Ikaw, kaya mo pa ba?” and “Kamusta ka naman?” These sarcastic statements was because of the first reunion concert that Ely broke down and got his 3rd Angioplasty. 

The encore was happening as they give their tribute to the late Francis M who passed away just a day before the concert. Kiko was supposedly going to perform as a surprise in the number Superproxy. Dealing with the tragic event, Ely sang Kiko’s part. They also played a part from the song Kaleidoscope World and gave thier goodbyes to Francis M.  At last, the song Ang Huling El Bimbo was played which was I believed to be the last song. Ely portrayed Jime Hendrix at the last part while he set the Sticker Happy piano on fire and destroys it. The encore list was:

Okay, okay. Everything was done, people started to go out and we also started walking towards the gate. “Bitin pa ba ako?” Gusto ko pa ba?”. Raymund grabbed the mic while tech peeps slowly packs up and returned everything to normal after Raims called out the rest of the heads. They huddled and told the crowd that this is not included in the set and Ely said “3 for the road!” and we started going back. This time, most of the crowd infront of the silver section was jumping over to the gold section until the barricades were down. Miles was insisting to go infront and i was quite hesitant because it might be a stampede but i did not mind anymore and we ran as fast, bumping others and voila, we are in the gold section and we can see the guys playing at the stage! Stage was set and they played couple of classics Ligaya, Sembreak and Toyang. The VIP section was very lucky that they sang the last song. Then, the show is over. The concert is done but the memories are just starting to sync into me.

It was a very solemn night i guess for many of us who are accompanied by our folks, girlfriends, husbands and wives. Ely was right, it was a movement in music during the ’90s that continues today and they were part of it, I was part of it and most of us are part of it. This concert is a reward for the ever loving fans of the ‘Heads although many are not in the event to witness it. After so many break-up stories, allegations and rumors, all of us are very happy and forgotten al that have happen.

Is this their Final Set? Honestly, i wanted them to be back as ‘heads for an album and hopes are high that they are now in good terms with each other. For all who stand by them and continued their support just like me, lets just wait and something good will be coming for us.

Francis M. dies today March 6, 2009

Francis Magalona died this noon at the Medical City. He was suffering from a certain kind of Leukemia. The news was announced in the noon-time show Eat Bulaga.

Its a shame that the music industry lost someone great like him.

The Dawn September 28, 2008

I woke up in this sunday morning feeling so light as if i don’t have any deadline for my these in the coming days. I look up to this day because of one thing, I’m playing again. I consider music as my first unconscious love. I have been a music lover when i became aware of things and i loved music that is way older than me. Maybe, I will boil down to music someday.
Later this afternoon, after waiting almost 40 minutes beyond schedule, i played with the three of the best musicians whom i know personally. 4 songs in the first meeting, whew!, considering that I and the guitarist were a bit rusty due to long time inactiveness. We almost got the song Frailty by Urbandub perfectly covered except that the drummer has no double pedals. It is a kit that is stomped for hitting the kick drum which produces freaky beats that you can hear.
I see the sun dawning for this project. Hopefully, we can be able to produce music as we wanted it.

Rant of a sad soul. September 2, 2008

I am ranting because of last saturday. It was 08.30.08. A historic night which i managed to let it pass. I am so ashamed of myself. Very ashamed. I don’t know what made me so oblivious about the so much awaited ‘heads concert that i even told my self, “ok lang yan kahit hindi makapunta”. Damn it was so wrooong. I don’t know what I am thinking at the 2-day ticket sale and managed to miss it. I remember Mr. Pitasyo told me that the ticket selling is just one-day so at the time he told me that nonsensical information from the demons in hell, i decided to let it pass, I DECIDED TO LET PASS THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT in my life, to date, that i can possibly and ably go to. It was the most fucking thing that i did in my life next to my occasional high-tempered attitude towards my girlfriend. 

It sucks.

Let me tell you how bad i messed up my fucking brain not being able to attend that historic concert. Eraserheads is the most influential opm band in the history of Philippine Music. I heard the song toyang when i was in prep, and it immediately caught my sense of musicality down to my bone marrow. I just felt that i like the song and i like the band. It was because my brother and cousins are hard-core fans of the ‘heads. I even heard them talking about how great they are and how the concert have undergone in my native town of Hagonoy in Bulacan. I have been an Eraserheads fan before i stepped on the stairs of my school(stairs used in going to the 2nd floor rooms) until the time they disbanded some time in my high school, probably in my freshman days. I have seen and heard the songs toyang, ligaya, sembreak, magasin, kaliwete, kailan, huling el bimbo (which they got an international recognition), harana(we have a cassette tape of this when we were rebuilding our old house), maselang bahaghari, overdrive and many many many more, played in noon time shows, radio, cassettes and cds. Whew! i just watched how the greatest concert that i can get in to slip away. I am such a loser just like Ogie says in Bubble Gang.

I am deeply concerned about Ely because my father has been in the same situation earlier this year and I’m pretty sure that he will recover so quickly.

I also hope that losers just like me that missed the fucking event be given an amnesty of “Eraserheads: Once Again”. i have been following may threads and news about Ely and the rest of the band and it positively says that there would be a part two. When that day comes, ticket or without a ticket, i will definitely go there, where ever that be, just to reminisce the times of growing up and of course, to give respect to the band  that filled my childhood with great memories. Albeit it was a great mistake for me, i consider the circumstances going towards me because I will still be given a chance to watch them play together.

China did it. The countdown was very extravagant wherein 2008 chinese made a synchronized clock displaying the seconds before 8pm. It was very exhilirating and jaw-breaking.
